| DMV Announces New Teen Driving Initiatives |
| | Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Robert M. Ward today announced two new programs to promote safe and responsible teen driving – a driving simulator to train students on safe-driving practices and analyze their driving behaviors and a video contest for high school students to create public service announcements on safe teen driving.

| Deadline Extended for DMV Teen Driving Video Contest |
| | Due to poor weather and hazardous driving conditions Wednesday, the Department of Motor Vehicles has extended the deadline of its Teen Driving Video Contest to Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. The original deadline was set for December 31, 2008, and included opportunities for applicants to hand-deliver entries. |

| Teen Safe Driving Week December 14-20 |
| | WETHERSFIELD – State Department of Motor Vehicle officials and other partners in safety today marked the start of Connecticut’s Teen Safe Driving Awareness week with an emphasis on the continued work needed by teens, parents and their communities to promote responsibility and safety.
Governor M. Jodi Rell named December 14-20, 2008, as a special time in Connecticut for emphasizing messages about safety and the need for young drivers to act responsibly when behind the wheel. Connecticut enacted tougher teen driving laws in August.

| | On February 17, 2009 all full-power broadcast television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital. The DMV is assisting the Federal Communications Commission in reaching the public with this information. |
